Each time we visit Sidney we enjoy it more. Really a beautiful place and a nice town, and staying at the Capital City Yacht Club gave us an opportunity to experience more of Tsehum Harbour.

Yesterday we biked into town to shop a little then rode a few miles out of town to lunch at the Fickle Fig. Limited offerings but delicious farm-to-table sandwiches.

After lunch we visited Victoria Distillers to try, and buy, some gin. After tasting the offerings we stuck with the Original Indigo.

On the way back to the boat we stopped by All Bay Marine to purchase a Canadian shrimp (“prawn” as they say here) trap. These Bauer traps are made locally and are supposed to be the best. The mesh on Canadian traps is smaller, so not as many get away. The proprietor imparted a lot of good tips, being an avid “prawner” himself. He said U.S. traps have a 50% “escape” rate.

He also recommended this attractant:

Nick getting the new trap back to the boat:

We’re pleased with our first yacht club reciprocal moorage experience and we’ll visit Capital City again.

The weather was nice enough for us to enjoy margaritas in the cockpit before dinner.

It’s high tide this morning so it should be a lot easier navigating the channel.

We are headed back across the boarder to Deer Harbor.
