ToG and RO arrived in Maple Bay (Birdseye Cove) Wednesday after a lovely cruise from Nanaimo.
We’ve finally been able to spend time outdoors in sunshine and less wind, enjoying drinks and meals on the dock and on our top decks.
We unloaded the kayaks for a couple of paddles around the cove and have taken some dinghy rides.
Yesterday, Nick, Steve and I did the couple-mile Shore Pine Loop hike on a nearby trail system…map pictured below. Steep and slippery in places but really nice and just a short walk up the road from the marina.

We lunched at The Shipyard Restaurant & Pub, here at the marina. This pub was closed when ToG visited last year. It’s a great old building with good outdoor seating and good food.
The marina is undergoing some much needed improvements. Some docks are quite cattywampus.
Seriously listing H dock (I think it’s worse than what this photo shows):

New ramp:

Last night, we were treated to a delicious meal aboard Ramble On: lovely appetizer skewers, lasagna, salad and bread.
We’ll depart later this morning for Tod Inlet and a visit to Butchart Gardens.
