Both boats hauled anchors and departed Tod Inlet on Monday, headed for Mill Bay on the west side of Saanich Inlet, Vancouver Island.

We planned to stay two nights but were informed that the navy would be pulling in to the linear guest dock on Tuesday, part of some kind of training. Marina staff may have been able to fit us in somewhere else on the docks for another night but warned us that the navy vessels would run generators all night and it would be noisy. I think it would have been fun to watch all that but we decided to move on Wednesday.

We had a nice lunch at Bridgemans Bistro, right there on the Pier, and did a little shopping in the village.

I am often entertained by the antics of gulls. When I spotted one with something large in its beak I assumed it was a sea star. Nope…a piece of pizza. All hell broke out as other gulls, and a crow, attempted to steal the slice. Not high quality photos but you get the picture:

The water was glass as we cruised out of Saanich Inlet yesterday. Sorry Shannon, no whales. We’re in a bit of a dry spell regarding whale sightings, although we did see a sea lion cruise by us in Tod Inlet.

We are now at the Port Sidney Marina for a few days.

Thanks to Shannon for a delicious shrimp taco dinner!
