We were happy to be safely tied to a dock in Port McNeill while the wind blew hard on Tuesday, along with buckets of rain. Good opportunity to do laundry and lunch at Gus’s Pub.
After reading a placard along the shore there, I realized two things: I mispelled Dall’s porpoise, and saw that there are also Pacific White-sided Dolphins in the area, so we may have been seeing those as well.
Yesterday we made a short, slow cruise back down the coast of Vancouver Island to Telegraph Cove.

I spotted several sea otters along the way:

Aris en route:

Telegraph Cove is a very cool place, with lots of accommodations for visitors, a restaurant, coffee shop, general store, and Whale Interpretive Centre. Also a a popular place for whale and grizzly-watching and kayaking tours. Very beautiful. Great weather!
Nick and I visited the Whale Interpretive Center. Lots of skeletons: whales, pinnepeds, eagles, and otters. Nice place to check out.
Our slip assignment has us in shallow, close quarters! The view over the side of our boat:

Our plan is to head north from here this morning, back into the Broughton Archipelago.
