We planned to stay in Prevost Harbor two nights but late in the afternoon Monday we decided to get one stop closer to home. We hauled anchor and set off for Shaw Island to drop the anchor again in Blind Bay. (I took another awesome paddle around the harbor first.)
It was a bit windy and we rocked and rolled a bit. Also, a lot of water- slapping-against-the-hull noise…all night. It was just a quick stop so we didn’t get a chance to go ashore. We recall, that even though we enjoy visiting the Shaw General Store, it’s kind of always this way so may rethink visiting Blind Bay again.
We arrived in Skyline, unpacked, and hit the road. Note to selves: Remember to check the “departing the boat” list! (We had to turn back for a few forgotten items.)
My cousin is visiting from Juneau and we’ll have the wee lads over. Back out some time around the 19th.
I meant to include a funny (to us) VHF radio exchange we heard while departing Tod Inlet.
Boat 1: “Boat in Brentwood Bay, slow down. You’re making too big of a wake. Slow down!”
Boat 2: “There’s no speed limit in the junk yard.”
Boat 1: “Ya, that’s what we thought.”
We surmise this was an exchange between a pleasure boater (local or not) and one of the many anchored live-aboards in the area. (Acres of boats at buoys or anchored – and yes, many of them junky.)
