There is a chandelier hanging under the Granville Bridge, right by the yacht club and we took a quick walk to look at it Friday afternoon. (The FCYC is the red building at the bottom of the photo.) Three times a day, it drops, lights up, and spins. Well, it dropped and lit up but didn’t spin. Pretty cool thing to see hanging under a bridge!

Then we walked, with Mike, to the Chinatown BBQ restaurant that we’d visited once before with the Coorie Doon crew. A “meat fest” Nick called it. And very good fried rice.

Saturday it was time to say goodbye to Mike and Willow. We left around 8am and had an easy Strait of Georgia crossing. We headed to Wallace Island to check out Princess Cove to anchor, or the dock in Conover Cove. Both were crowded so we kept on going to Montague Harbour on Galiano Island.
We were in Montague Harbour (famous for the bus to the Hummingbird Pub) once several years ago aboard Europa. That time we anchored; this time we chose to grab one of the many (37?) buoys at Montague Harbour Marine Provincial Park. There were quite a few balls still available but we think they filled up by nightfall. Took the dinghy into the dock then walked to the marina. It was a bit breezy when we arrived but the wind died and we had a very quiet night.
We were up early and headed to Garrison Bay to crab before heading home tomorrow.
Interesting (to me) note about big boats: When we departed Vancouver I noticed two large yachts in the inlet. Very large. The first one, Lonian, is 285 feet long, and is owned by a former UFC CEO. The second one, Hodor, is 217 feet and does nothing but haul part of Lonian’s crew and…wait for it…Lonian’s toys. Seriously. A helicopter, many boats, tenders, jet skis, dive gear, ATV’s, etc. Known as the world’s largest toy box. A “support” vessel. Really? I find this despicable. I hope the dude gives away lots of money. Shame on him.
We’ll spend some time at home, have Malcolm & Ren for a sleepover, then head to the coast in our camper. Back on the water around mid-August.
