He’s unstoppable! This one on his first cast of the day!
Another thing I forgot to mention. On the way from Blake to Tacoma on the 21st, we pulled into Des Moines Marina to fuel up. We knew there were changes happening but were unclear of any details. What a scene! There was a tug and barge setting pilings, and a whole new set of docks. We couldn’t see exactly what was going on but access to the fuel dock did not look possible so I called to get the scoop. I was told that yes, the fuel dock is open…if you can scoot behind the tug…or wait for them to finish and move! Um…no. No fuel for us. It will be interesting to see the marina after all the work is completed. Seems like a really good move for them. (Side note: Fluid Motion [Ranger Tugs and Cutwater Boats], a fixture on the Des Moines docks for many years, now leases dock space from Johnny’s on the Foss Waterway.)
It was a beautiful weekend in August in Gig Harbor and we were surprised at how few boats were anchored in the harbor.

Someone installed a pop-up tent on top of their Sundowner Tug for the kids – brilliant!

Twenty-five of us gathered at my parents’ home in Purdy yesterday to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary. A nice gathering and good to see everyone together.
Currently on our way to Poulsbo.
Another side note: I took some time recently to complete the Marine Education & Research Society’s (free) Whale-Safe Boating course. I learned a few things and got lots of good reminders.
