We did move along. ToG and RO departed Ganges friday morning, headed for Telegraph Harbour on Thetis Island.

Ganges was, as usual, a great place to visit and we were lucky to both find space on Kanaka Wharf, the public dock right “downtown.” The only potential downside might be, in my opinion, the proximity to busy harbor activities including the “school bus boats” and the float plane dock.

Several taxi boats, including Scholarship and The Graduate, are berthed at this dock and make daily runs to outlying islands (including North Pender and Mayne) to get kids back and forth to school on Salt Spring Island.

The float plane dock is adjacent and three different companies fly in and out many times a day. As fun as this all is to watch, the noise and activity may get a little old for some after a couple of days. Really, the worst part for me is the smell of airplane fuel.

After arriving and checking in at Telegraph, the four of us took off on a hike. The weather was pleasant enough for shorts!

After that we boarded our dinghies and took a spin around the point. Thanks to Steve for photos:

Yesterday we hopped on the ferry to have lunch in Chemainus, on the mainland. Good Vietnamese food!

Our plan is to head further north today, timing our departure for slack tide at Dodd Narrows. We’ll try to get both boats on to the reciprocal dock at the Nanaimo Yacht Club.
