Above: The view of Mt. Baker from the Port of Friday Harbor guest dock. The weather really cooperated!
And yes, this is the beginning of our tenth season of boating! We took possession of Pelican late in 2016, so that first season was short, but I’m counting it!
On Friday, after more boat chores, I took a paddle around the harbor while Nick continued with some buffing and waxing. We had beers and grub at San Juan Brewing for dinner.
We woke Sunday to heavy fog, then departed around 10:30am after it lifted. It was a nice, calm cruise across Rosario Strait.
Santa gave me a Garmin remote for Christmas, so on our cruise back we linked it to the chart plotter and I was able to steer the boat the way I prefer…while sitting back and pushing buttons.

We returned to find that the next door neighbor had taken delivery of their new-to-them American Tug! We hear that the next neighbor down is also in the market, so there may be three of them in a row soon.

Still troubleshooting our fridge. Haven’t decided if we’ll continue to explore possible issues or bite the bullet and have someone come and fix it.
We hope to get out again this month if we see any good weather windows.
