Potlatch State Park

Here we are at Potlatch State Park near Shelton. We stopped at Twanoh State Park on the way but decided to keep going a bit, as we were unable to check in early there. Here at Potlatch, someone was on duty and guided us to a great spot – #18 for future reference.

Both Twanoh and Potlatch are situated so the day use area is on the water and the camping area is across the highway. Not ideal. Both of these seem like the typical WA State Park – old but serviceable. Rustic for sure, as well as very quiet this time of year. Nice.

We took a walk to the beach yesterday after lunch. The day use parking lot was full and there were many people on the beach digging for clams and shucking oysters. In fact, we’ve never seen so many oysters!

We had a nice evening after a beautiful afternoon, recognizing Cinco de Mayo with margaritas and cheese enchiladas — and a whole lot of Grupo Frontera music!

Today we will continue on to Rainbow Falls State Park near Chehalis.

Ta-da!

Notes about this trip: It started as a camping weekend after an invite to Seaquest State Park from our son Caleb. Then we checked in with our Ramble On buddies Shannon & Steve. They were game, ditto her parents. As our last boating trip ended early, we decided to tack on a few days at the beginning of our camping adventure. So now it’s a two week trip across the state!
