There have been changes to a couple of marinas in this area over the past few years. Mañana Resort & Marina is the latest. There has been a marina on this spot since 1948 and this latest iteration is spectacular. The website calls it “a massive revitalization under a partnership between FMC Holdings and the Stz’uminus First Nation’s Coast Salish Development Corporation.”

It’s very nice…and very new. The docks look fresh, the staff are in learning mode, the fuel dock just opened, and there are still finishing touches being made all around. At this point, the place is pristine. If a little disorganized because of the newness. Growing pains is all.

This would be a great place for a rendezvous!

The only downside, and it’s not a major one, is the need to dinghy across the harbour to visit town. The resort has a shuttle but as of now they are too short-staffed to run it. We made the trip yesterday, using the dinghy dock at Oyster Bay Marina. We were told there may be a $10 charge, depending on someone’s outlook on any given day. We were not asked to pay.

We’re going to try out happy hour at 1948 Bar & Bistro. I’ll make a full report…
