First of all…CRABS!

We arrived in Kingston and while dealing with some miscommunication and overall not-very-organized nonsense with the marina staff (translated as us having to move twice!), Nick found out there was crabbing that day and crabs were being caught!

Side note: the day before I was inquiring about just why we need all this crab/shrimp-catching equipment onboard all the time…little did I know.

As soon as we finally got settled, Nick threw a couple of pots out. He checked them in one hour. Zero.

We checked them again before we went for the well vaunted pizza. Six Dungeness (metacarcinus magister) keepers! Five is the limit for one license so a smaller one had to go back in the drink.

It’s about effing time.

So…pizza. Sourdough Willy’s is just off the dock in Kingston. We went for their most popular Detroit Style with New York toppings. It was good. However, kinda like a pizza made from a loaf of focaccia. Too much bread. (We were warned.) Wonderful flavors and a nice place. If we return, and I hope we do, we’ll try another style.

I ate one piece, which isn’t really like me.

As for the switcheroo…at some point over the weekend Nick and Steve inadvertently swapped glasses. It will be a mystery for ever. Long story short, Steve and Tracey met us in Poulsbo today to re-swap.

Now we are cooking…you guessed it…crab!
