There were ten boats at the La Conner Marina guest dock – a few more than the norm, we’re told.

I devised a “get to know La Conner” bingo game, which was a success. We also practiced throwing our safety lines, and had a nice dinner at Coa – 22 people – close to the YC record.

One of the first things Nick and I did was walk to the American Tug factory. As you may know, that’s where our boat was built, and we’ve spent a lot of time there. What I haven’t mentioned on this blog yet is that they declared Chapter 7 bankruptcy in July. To be clear, after acquiring AT in 2023, the Kadey Krogen Group declared bankruptcy…and took AT down with it. I’m not going to go into details but suffice to say four people with boats being built have been totally screwed, and most of us are unhappy to see this stellar company in this situation.

We felt like we needed to visit to pay our respects, so to speak. Sad to see the place closed up.

After a fun couple of days, ToG left La Conner for home. We timed our departure to hit Deception Pass at slack. Little did we know there was a fog bank! On went the radar.

Kind of pretty…in retrospect, but not much fun in the thick of it.

We made it back to Skyline without mishap.

Traffic was abysmal, taking us about three and a half hours to get home. As Sierra&fam moved back to Seattle Tuesday, it was a little lonely walking into our condo. No little Finlay to greet us!

They are doing good, though, and we’ll visit them in their new apartment soon. In the meantime, we’ll spend some time at home getting back to normal.
