We met friends and family on Friday at Durant Winery in Dayton Oregon. We drove through some very rainy weather getting there but since then it has been mostly sunny, if a bit frigid at times.
We all rented a house in Carlton and visited Ayres Winery on Saturday, followed by grilled ribs at the house. (Thanks Nick!)

The Motterhome left Carlton Sunday, headed to the coast. We haven’t made any reservations this trip although we’ve researched some potential places to stay. Our first stop was at Heceta Beach RV Park, just north of Florence. Nice little park but not that great of a location. On a walk Monday morning we stumbled upon Harbor Vista campground, a Lane County Park. We decided to head south for just about two miles to stay a couple of nights before heading north again.
Very lovely park, very private and quiet. It’s a short walk down the hill to the beach, and just about a three mile bike ride into Old Town Florence.

We’ve enjoyed some nice walks and a couple of good campfires.
We are now just north of Newport at Beverly Beach State Park. Great park! Quite large and a bit busy for this time of year. The ocean beach is near, and we just did a nature walk through dense forest.
We saw many of these “octopus” trees.

We’ll stay here a couple of nights and then continue north, maybe to Devils Lake. We’ll see. The weather is supposed to continue cooperating, with temps in the upper seventies forecast for tomorrow.
